MahallMahallFree Mosque & Mahallu Management for India

Everything in Mahall management software

Mahall is mahall and masjid management software for committees in India — also written mahal or mahallu, and called a palli committee in Kerala or a jamath in Tamil Nadu. These are 32 things it does, grouped the way a committee actually divides its work. Every one of them is included on the free plan for your first 50 members.

Money & Records

Everything a mahall treasurer currently keeps in a ledger book or a spreadsheet — collections, spending, receipts and the closing balance.

Donation tracking
Record Zakat, Sadaqah and general donations against a donor, with a digital receipt generated for every entry.
Expense tracking
Log mosque spending under your own categories, route entries through an approval step, and keep a permanent audit trail of who recorded what.
Monthly fee (pirivu) collection
Set a monthly subscription per family and see at a glance which families have paid and which are in arrears, without recomputing the list by hand.
Collection rounds
Assign collectors to areas of the mahall, track door-to-door pirivu as it is gathered, and record a single handover when a collector settles up.
Instant PDF receipts
Every donation and fee payment produces a numbered PDF receipt that can be printed or sent to the family directly.
Balance & reconciliation
A running balance that updates as entries are made, with tools to reconcile the book against the mosque bank account.
Reports & CSV export
Monthly, yearly and category-wise reports for committee meetings and Waqf Board filings, exportable to CSV so the data is never locked in.

People

The mahall register itself — every family and every member, searchable instead of stored across a shelf of notebooks.

Member register
An individual record per member with contact and demographic details, held against the family they belong to.
Family records
Records grouped by household — head of family, spouse and children — which is the unit a mahall committee actually works in.
Searchable directory
Search and filter the whole community register by name, area, occupation, age or any custom field the committee adds.
Demographic insights
Breakdowns by age, occupation and locality, so a committee can see how many students, widows, unemployed or elderly members the mahall has before planning welfare.
Bulk upload from Excel
Import an existing member or family list from Excel or CSV, so a mahall with records already in a spreadsheet does not start from an empty database.
Committee roles & access
Give the secretary, treasurer and president separate logins with role-based permissions — admin, accountant or view-only.

Community

The committee’s work beyond the accounts: reaching families, running programmes, and keeping a record of decisions.

Announcements
Broadcast a notice to every family at once through push notification, WhatsApp or Telegram instead of a paper notice on the mosque board.
Programmes & events
Plan, schedule and track madrasa classes, Ramadan programmes and community events in one calendar.
Surveys
Run a quick poll or a structured family survey and collect the responses without printing forms.
Meetings & minutes
Schedule committee meetings and record the minutes against the meeting, so decisions stay findable years later.
Activity log
A complete audit trail of every action taken in the system, which is what lets a new committee verify the previous one’s books.
Change approvals
Families can submit corrections to their own records, and the committee reviews and approves them before anything changes.
Resource library
A shared library of documents, links and downloads that the committee can publish to the whole mahall.

Mosque Tools

Tools specific to running the masjid itself rather than the committee’s paperwork.

Prayer times
An auto-updating namaz schedule for your locality, so the timings shown to the community are always current.
Asset & property register
Track mosque property, rental units, equipment and inventory, including what is rented out and what income it brings.
Learning resources
Curated links to khutbas, lessons and learning material, published to families through the portal.

Certificates & Staff

The administrative duties a mahall office carries out for its members and its employees.

Marriage certificates
Issue a numbered marriage certificate from the mahall register, with the record retained so a duplicate can be reissued years later.
Staff records & payroll
Keep records for the imam, muezzin, madrasa teachers and other staff, and run their monthly salary as a tracked payment.
Family portal
Each family can log in to see its own records, payment history and receipts — and nothing belonging to any other family.
QR scan lookup
Scan a family’s QR code to pull up their record instantly, which is what makes door-to-door collection fast enough to be worth doing on a phone.

Communication & Access

How the software reaches people: their language, their phone, and the channels they already use.

WhatsApp integration
Send announcements and payment reminders over WhatsApp, which is where most mahall communication already happens.
Telegram bot
Broadcast notifications through your own Telegram bot for committees that run a Telegram group.
Email & web push
Email and browser push notifications for receipts, reminders and announcements.
Four languages
The full interface is available in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and English, switchable per user rather than fixed for the whole mosque.
Installs like an app
Mahall is a Progressive Web App: it installs to the home screen on Android and iPhone straight from the browser, with no app store download and no separate version to update.

What Mahall does not do

It is not a Qibla or Quran app, and it does not sell hardware or donation kiosks. It is the committee's side of the mosque — the register, the money and the paperwork. If you need prayer times for the community, those are built in; if you need a full-screen mosque display board, Mahall is not that product.
