Shopping for mosque management software? Here's the practical list of what actually matters — and what to ignore.
The 10 features that matter
- Family & member registry — the foundation of everything
- Monthly fee (pirivu) collection — should support cash, UPI, bank
- Donation tracking with receipts — instant PDF receipts via WhatsApp
- Announcements broadcast — push notifications, not just email
- Marriage certificates — issuance + lifetime archive
- Savings circles / mutual aid fund — transparent, with statements
- Staff & payroll — imam, ustad, security, cleaner — all on one schedule
- Reports & balance sheet — monthly and annual, exportable
- Multi-language UI — Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, English at minimum
- Mobile-first / PWA — your committee uses phones, not laptops
Features that sound nice but you probably don't need
- AI-powered "insights" — at mosque scale, you can read your reports yourself
- Custom branding tiers — paid feature, no committee needs it
- Blockchain "immutable records" — a regular database with audit log is just as good
- Integrated e-commerce — mosques don't sell things; if they do it's once a year
What about cost?
Free is fine. The best mosque management apps are free because the people building them care about the community, not the margin. If a vendor charges per-member or per-family, ask why — usually there's no good answer.
